Quirky Characters, the Folksy Show!

Please join us Friday May 30th at 6pm for the opening reception of this show dedicated to Quirky Characters.
Featuring paintings by Bev Whalen, metal sculpture by creative team Steve Veinot and Nikki Allen and wooden folk art by Jim Tracey.
Show continues until July 6th.
Jim Tracey's quirky sense of humour and love of bright colour is what brings life to each one of his creation. Incorporating reclaimed wood from old barns and driftwood from local beaches, Jim's work often seems to tell a story. His creations vary from small functional pieces such as birdhouses, 3-dimensional framed wall hangings and small tabletop carvings, to eight-foot high funky birds that belong outside in your garden.
Scraps of wood, iron, glass, leather, silverware and other collectibles are brought to life by the imaginations of Steve Veinot and his partner Nikki Allen. Each piece is constructed from various recycled materials; pieces of our heritage that have been left behind by time have been salvaged and re-imagined into one of a kind whimsical “Pieces of the Past” sculptures.
Born and raised in Nova Scotia, Bev Whalen is a self taught artist. As a child her passion was drawing, but she gave it up soon after high school to get married and start a family. It wasn't until moving from Halifax to the west end of the Annapolis Valley, two and a half years ago, that she began painting again. To her surprise local galleries were interested in her work and it wasn't long before she sold her first creation, a painting of a dog wearing a dress. Today, Bev paints daily working in acrylics, creating whimsical and often humorous pieces inspired by her dreams, people and animals in her life.
