Painter, Painter, Potter
New Works by Lynn Johnson, Lisa Wright and Shauna Macleod
Lynn Johnson began her artistic journey in 1991. She finds her
inspiration all around her, seeing the extraordinary in everyday things,
which she brings to life in her work. For many years Lynn concentrated
on commissions, simultaneously selling her art and art products at
markets, gift shops and museums throughout the Maritimes. She is
currently represented by several commercial galleries, continuing to
have solo shows and participating in juried group shows. She believes in
making a contribution along the way and is an active volunteer in the
local arts community.
The Abstract Expressionists are Lisa Wright’s foundation for technique
and freedom of expression. Her art is non-objective and has many
layers. She works in acrylic and mixed media painting intuitively by
reacting to an experience: storms, a brilliant sun, the sound of wind in the trees or interpreting the depth of a person’s gaze. Movement,
power and drama can be found there. Composition and design ground her
paintings. She creates so that you will experience something personal inside her paintings. Your unique perspective is the art.
Shauna Macleod is a maker at heart. She creates decorative and
functional domestic ware using Nova Scotia red earthenware clay. She is
influenced strongly by her environmental landscape, historical ceramics
and everyday events. Much of her work has a personal connection
vital to what she wants to communicate, which includes showing evidence
of the handmade, expressing the comfort and ritual of daily use, and
representing community, sharing, and celebration.
