Quirky Characters, 2nd Annual Folk Art Show

Quirky Characters, 2nd Annual Folk Art Show

May 2nd - June 28th, 2015

With over 20 years experience working with metal, Al Simm started Avon River Metalworks in 2002, designing and creating artistic sculptures and functional architectural pieces for clients around the Maritimes. Using a variety of metals including aluminum, steel and copper, Al incorporates found, discarded and recycled materials into his work. He has frequently been commissioned by the Town of Windsor to create artistic decorative pieces including his unique floral designs.

With his quirky sense of humour and a love of bright colour Jim Tracey brings life into each one of his creations. Incorporating reclaimed wood from old barns and driftwood from local beaches, Jim's work often seems to tell a story. His creations vary from small functional pieces such as birdhouses, three-dimensional framed wall hangings and small tabletop carvings, to eight-foot high sculptures for the garden.

Joe Winters, born and living in Liverpool, NS, served 10 years in the Canadian Navy, where he began carving and painting. Over the years he has created many larger pieces such as bears, totem poles, eagles and cigar store Indians. Joe takes special pride in his three-dimensional lathe work pieces, which often depict Maritime scenes.

Please join us for the opening May 2nd, 2pm-5pm
